I Thirst

The well has run dry
The earth is parched
And I thirst.  I thirst
For meaning
Take away
Take away
You take away
I forget how to pray
And I don't know
If I want to remember how
Because the pain
Gone from one
Resides now in the other
Pain I cannot shoulder
Burden crushing
Loss immeasurable
I weep
You wept
I grieve
You grieved
The well has run dry
The earth is parched
I thirst, Lord, I thirst

  1. You have some deep thoughts here, Martha. I remember times where I was "doing all the right things" yet still feeling dry, parched, thirsty spiritually.
    Love and blessings!

  2. Thank you, Kim. I was thinking of a sad time a friend of mine is going through when I penned this one.

    1. Yes, Debra, it was. I can't believe it took me so long to get back to you because I'm usually alerted immediately when there is a comment on Moments and Musings. Please accept my apologies, my friend! Love and blessings!
